Lung Cancer Foundation of America hosts 7th annual “Day at the Races” to fund research for better treatments

Proceeds needed to fill funding gap for lung cancer research

Del Mar, CA - Lung Cancer Foundation of America leaders are betting a special “Day at the Races” at the historic Del Mar Racetrack will attract avid fans and newcomers alike to watch thoroughbreds run for a meaningful cause.

This is the 7th year LCFA has organized a fundraising event at Del Mar to help support its mission of raising money for lung cancer research. “We are also working to stamp out the stigma that continues to plague this disease,” said LCFA executive director Jim Baranski. “Too many people mistakenly believe lung cancer only happens to those who smoke. The truth is everyone is a lung cancer candidate, and funding to find better treatments is a cause we can all root for.”

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and the second most common cancer among both men and women in the United States, yet it ranks near the bottom in research funding.
